SPRUNG FESTIVAL 2017 IS PRESENTED PROUDLY BY THE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND CREATIVE INDUSTRIES, +  CYCLE PRODUCTIONS

ANYTHING TO DECLARE?

Four travellers, a delayed flight, and an unhelpful airhostess with a million excuses. Anything to Declare? Is a nostalgic show about home set in a place that is home to no-one; the world’s worst airport.

Kel, Adelaide, Michael and Eva find themselves stranded after their plane is delayed. Though they appear to have nothing in common except the destination on their boarding passes, it is soon revealed that each of these characters stands at a transitional moment in their lives. Despite their differences, all of them have a specific relationship to the concept of home, what they have left behind, and the problems they are returning to face.

What makes relationships fall apart? Why are we terrified of getting old? What if you could see the summers and winters of your life pressed together like a scrapbook? Lori and James just want to stay in love, but their insecurities, flaws, and the passing of time itself have other ideas. Keep Warm will take you on a journey through love, heartbreak and reconciliation, creating a world of constantly changing seasons while calendar pages keep flipping for twenty years. Follow as our characters struggle past annoying little brothers, fridges full of yoghurt and terrifying old women just to say what they really mean for once.

TOO much, TOO loud, TOO big, TOO crazy, TOO small, TOO quiet. How do you perceive yourself? How do others perceive you?
TOO explores self-image, through individuals, others and society using real stories from real people. Through the use of physical theatre, movement and dance, scenes of hope, sadness, guilt, joy and pride will create a space of self-reflection and observation.
Reflective, bold and mysterious is the world in which our five ensemble members will investigate the depths of ourselves and society that no one wants to talk about. TOO is where your reflection can be your worst best friend.

Through the lens of a broken protagonist, whiteout is a

display of the hardships around bad decision making and the

harsh realities for young people surviving in a rough

environment.

Set in Luca’s home, four other characters bring fragmented

pieces of his memory to him surrounding the death of his

younger sister. Spectacle and sensation, cut with physical

movement and dark comedy, whiteout stages the beautiful and harsh internal dialogue of someone discovering reality.

Sometimes your mind can be your worst enemy.

The end of the world. Ghosts from the past. Dinner Parties. This is SHELTERED.
Eli, a shy and reserved young man, attempts to live out the rest of his days in a nuclear bunker made for one. He finds his solitude interrupted by three seemingly uninvited guests. Together the four share the moment the world ends, and Eli begins to wonder that maybe all is not as it seems…
Hilarious, gripping, and delightfully weird, SHELTERED is a wonderful hybrid of theatre and animation that will make you wonder who you’ll want to be with when your world ends.
